How do I add my email address (or subscribe) to the list (listserv)?
To subscribe:
1. Write to listserv@listserv.bccls.org
2. Leave the subject line blank
3. Type: subscribe Paramus_Library_News YOUR NAME (replacing YOUR NAME with
your first and last name). Example: subscribe Paramus_Library_News Jane Doe
4. Send the message
5. Remember to log into your email account within 48 hours and follow the instructions
to confirm you subscription. Without a confirming your subscription, your email
address will not be added to the list.
Important points
to remember:
o Be sure to send this command from the e-mail account from which you wish to
receive the list’s mail.
o Your name must contain at least two “words.” Neither Liberace
nor Charlemagne would be able to subscribe to a list but George W would have
no trouble at all.

If
I add my email to the list, will I receive spam or other unwanted emails?
The library is the only one able to send you emails through this service. This list will not be given out to others and will be use solely for library purposes. No one will be able to send you any unwanted emails nor will they be able to determine what your email address is through this service. Your email address is safe.
Can I get a computer virus, worm, etc from being
apart of this list (listserv)?
The answer is no. The major source of virus and other intruders/infections is through attachments. No attachments will be sent in any messages from this service. We will only send links (also known as hyperlinks) to pages on the Internet.
What email address will messages be sent from so
I can add it to my address book?
Messages will only be sent from paramusnews@bccls.org.
I never subscribed to the listserv. Why am I getting
these emails?
When you signed up for a library card, you may have given the library staff your email address. You may have also given the library your email address through the BCCLS (Bergen County Cooperative Library System) web site [www.bccls.org]. The email addresses associated with Paramus library cards were extracted from the database.
A listserv is essentially
an electronic mailing list of email addresses of people interested in a certain
topic or specific area of interest.
